With so much wonderful produce in the area to choose from, our intention is to use Cumbrian produce whenever possible

We aim to give you a real taste of Cumbria.

We provide our guests with a delicious and hearty breakfast made with locally reared or grown produce whenever possible.

All breakfasts are cooked to order so may take a little time, but that time can be well spent solving puzzles!

Vegetarian - Claire makes her own cheese sausages - and other diets can be catered for with prior notice.

Haven Cottage Claire's vegetarian breakfast

Bacon, black puddings, eggs and the sausages are all produced locally.

Our bread is homemade by Claire but at really busy times we also use a traditional and long established bakery in Ambleside

We make all our own marmalades and jams using local fruit when possible. We picked the Blackberries in the lane behind Haven Cottage and the Damsons and Apples came from the Winster valley. We have, as yet, to find any Lemons or Oranges growing locally! If, due to lack of time, we're unable to make our own we buy locally produced jam/marmalade.

All cakes and scones are baked at Haven Cottage. We buy our Tea and Coffee from Farrer's of Kendal.
